Ball Park Named for Ed Whitehurst, Sr
Click on the Title above to read the entire article:
Summary of Information: On October 15, 2007, the Pitt County
Board of Commissioners approved a "Policy for the Naming and
Dedication of Parks and Recreation Areas". This Policy
allowed for recognizing individuals who make substantial
financial or other contributions to the development of parks
and recreation facilities. The County has received a
substantial contribution to the Pitt County District Park.
EJE Recycling and Disposal, Inc. has donated the fencing and
infield for a second softball field at the Park. The County
had budgeted approximately $72,000 for this work. The funds
were to come from the PARTF grant and the County's match.
Now that the softball field has been donated, the County can
use its grant funds and County match for other additions to
the Park.
The owners of EJE Recycling and Disposal, Inc. have
requested that the field they have donated, be named "Ed
Whitehurst, Sr. Field".
Submitter Recommendations/Motions: That the new softball
field at the Pitt County District Park be named "Ed
Whitehurst, Sr. Field" and that appropriate signs be erected
at the field to so designate it and that a resolution be
adopted and presented to Mr. Whitehurst at some later date.
