Baseball Players in the Family

"The boys (Pat's grandsons) are playing "coach pitch" baseball this spring and we are now in the playoffs. We won last night 22 to 11. Jake (taller w/blond hair) got 1 run and 2 base hits and got a 1 RBI. Harrison hit 2 doubles, 2 singles, scored 4 runs, got 7 RBI's and was awarded the game ball! We are so excited and proud of both boys. We are bringing our bats and gloves on Sunday if anybody wants to play. We can't wait to see everbody."

Janene's Friend, Mayhew, Won Competition - Congratulations

"Mayhew was the oldest competitor and MTV interviewed him for an upcoming show in June/July!! We had a blast!! They had a panel of about 10 judges that were body builders so we were so proud!! Below is an article that Herman Gaskins III is sending to the Washington Daily News. He did good - did he not? Mayhew has created some monsters....Tori and Chantel are now joining the gym and ready to go to another competition!!! "

Cox Wins Bodybuilding Competition
Washington resident Mayhew Cox is now one of the top bodybuilders in North Carolina. Last Saturday, he was crowned champion at the 2009 NPC Metrolina Bodybuilding, Fitness, and Figure Competition in Albemarle.
Cox competed in the Masters division (age fifty and above). Over seventy men and women from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia competed in various age and weight divisions. Saturday was no doubt one of the most grueling days of Cox’s life. In the morning, he strutted his stuff in the pre-judging portion of competition, in which a panel of judges graded him on muscular size and symmetry. Awards were handed out in front of at least 600 spectators during the evening session.
Although fitness has been a lifelong passion for Cox, this was his first time in a bodybuilding competition. Training for such an event involves months of early morning workouts, countless hours on the treadmill, and strict adherence to a diet that includes hardly any carbohydrates.
After all that sacrifice, Cox is unsure whether he will compete again. “I think I’ll just enjoy eating some cheeseburgers and desserts in the coming days and make that decision later,” he explained Saturday evening.
Cox trains at Fitness Unlimited in Washington.
